Do you fear outsourcing?

without comments

Everyone has fears and things that worry them. Of course, people have very different levels of fears ranging from low to very high. There are people who are so overcome by fear that they find it very difficult to function in any real or accepted manner, which places a great deal of stress and strain on them.

These people clearly need help as fear, whilst being a natural emotion, should not be allowed to rule a person’s life. And like in so many things, what is true for a human can be said about a company. Yes, many companies and organizations have fears about their future and look to minimize any disruption.

The reason that so many entities have fears is obviously due to the fact that it is humans that are in charge of them but fear is a major component of the business world. The strange thing is, even things that are deemed to be very good and a bonus to a great number of companies can be considered something of great concern to many people.

This can be seen in the amount of firms that have a genuine fear of outsourcing. In recent times, outsourcing has become hugely important in the business world, saving firms a lot of money and probably keeping a large number of firms in business. So, if outsourcing is a positive thing for many firms, why are so many firms scared of it?

The reason for the fear is due to the fact that some managers think that the outsourcing work is not secure enough for their needs. Data protection and freedom of information laws have made everyone aware how important it is to keep control of all data and information that is held within a firm. Any lapse or breach of security can be extremely damaging to a company and therefore, many managers will think why should they put their job at risk by outsourcing?

The benefits of low cost provided by outsourcing are not always met by a great service and this is why there is an issue at the moment. However, as with so many things, it is likely that the fears are largely unfounded and there are many great ways to outsource without putting information at risk.

Yes, there are so many outsourcing firms on the market to choose from that always finding the right one can be a hard task but if a business considers it in the way they would choose all suppliers, there is no problem. Outsourcing is no different from choosing a new partner or a firm to act as part of the supply chain, so the same level of research and understanding that is placed on these firms should be carried out on potential outsourcing partners.

Also, when outsourcing contracts are written up, there will be agreements put into place about any security breach, which can help to strengthen the motivation for the outsourcing to be kept at a top level. With proper management, there is no need to fear outsourcing at all.
