Outsourcing could go nuclear!
The topic of power and energy has never been a more important area of discussion and as the effects of global warming and climate change become better known, this is a topic that is not going to go away anytime soon. One source of power and energy that has caused great disharmony and discomfort is nuclear power with many people viewing it as the most dangerous source of energy. However, as other natural sources dry up, there are moves to make nuclear power safer and more available to the general public. This may not be the most popular of moves but with rising costs and fuel prices, there is a need to do something and this is exactly what is happening at the moment. There are five companies who have agreed to work together in an attempt to clean up the nuclear industry and they have been working on this task since 2008. It may not be an easy task but there is a growing hope that the fears and concerns over the nuclear fuel may not be as large as they previously were.
Even though nuclear power is improving its image, it has the same business principles and methods to consider as any other organization which means that aspects like outsourcing can still bring a tremendous benefit to any industry. With the current economic crisis causing many firms to ponder their feasibility and wondering about how much money they will require remaining in business and continue to grow. The money is obviously a very important but there is also a great opportunity to develop new skills and learn a lot more about the best way to run and organize their business. This is what the UKAEA will be hoping to achieve by working alongside CSC in this outsourcing deal that is said to be worth over £30m. This is a sum that could make a huge difference to any company so there is no doubt that CSC will be extremely happy about the situation.
They will be bringing the IT solutions to the new business and this is further proof that IT is vitally important to any firm. With so much importance being placed on computer programs and networks being available, the UKAEA are able to utilize the services of a firm who is already providing IT work to eight other companies. This level of experience indicates the quality of the work being undertaken by CSC and also indicates why the UKAEA would be so keen to work with them.
Knowing that the IT element of their job was being taken care of by a successful firm would enable UKAEA to concentrate on their core strengths and this is one of the most important elements about using outsourcing. Having the confidence to go work towards your strengths and using others to assist with the overall product is something that brings great benefit and is a key reason why outsourcing is going from strength to strength and shows no sign of stopping.
